Thunderbirds acquire Justin Jamer from Oceanside

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –The Twin City Thunderbirds have completed a trade with the Oceanside Shock. Twin City has traded defenseman Nick Magill-Diaz to Oceanside in exchange for forward Justin Jamer.

Justin Jamer, 24, Forward, of Ottawa, Ontario, appeared in five FPHL games for the Port Huron Prowlers near the conclusion of the 2025-2026 regular season. He accumulated twenty-two penalty minutes during his first professional season. Jamer’s rights were selected from Port Huron by Oceanside in the fifth round of the 2026 FPHL Expansion Draft. Jamer played four seasons collegiately at Adrian College (ACHA DI, Adrian, Michigan). He scored forty-three goals and recorded sixty-two assists for one hundred and five total points in one hundred and twenty-five regular-season games. Jamer served as a team captain during the 2025-2026 season, scoring twelve goals and notching eighteen assists for thirty total points in twenty-eight games. He helped Adrian win the 2024 ACHA Division I National Championship and advance to the national championship game during each of his final three seasons. Jamer also helped the Bulldogs win back-to-back Great Lakes Six Conference Championships and was named the conference tournament’s Most Valuable Player in 2025. Prior to college, Jamer played junior hockey for the Ottawa West Golden Knights (CCHL2, Ottawa, Ontario), Navan Grads (CCHL, Navan, Ontario), Humboldt Broncos (SJHL, Humboldt, Saskatchewan), and Cobourg Cougars (OJHL, Cobourg, Ontario). He scored forty-six goals and recorded sixty-nine assists for one hundred and fifteen total points in one hundred and eighty-six junior games. Jamer is 6’3”, 210 lbs., and is a righthanded shot.

Nick Magill-Diaz, 29, Defenseman, of Clawson, Michigan, was acquired by the Thunderbirds from the Watertown Wolves on August 8th, 2026. He skated in fifty-two games for the Pee Dee IceCats during the 2025-2026 season. Magill-Diaz scored five goals and recorded twelve assists for seventeen total points. He also notched seven assists in nine postseason games for Pee Dee. Magill-Diaz has appeared in one hundred and fifty-six career FPHL regular-season games, scoring twenty-two goals and recording fifty-seven assists for seventy-nine total points. He began his professional hockey career during the 2022-2023 season with the Motor City Rockers. Magill-Diaz has also appeared in forty-seven SPHL games with the Vermilion County Bobcats, Quad City Storm, Pensacola Ice Flyers, Birmingham Bulls, and Macon Mayhem. He appeared in ten games for Trine University (NCAA DIII, Angola, Indiana) before continuing his collegiate career at Curry College (NCAA DIII, Milton, Massachusetts). Magill-Diaz scored thirteen goals and recorded twenty assists for thirty-three total points in seventy-one games at Curry. Prior to college, he played junior hockey for the Northern Cyclones (EHL, Hudson, New Hampshire) and Philadelphia Little Flyers (EHL, Aston, Pennsylvania). Magill-Diaz scored ten goals and notched thirty-eight assists for forty-eight total points in fifty games with Philadelphia. He is 5’9”, 185 lbs., and is a righthanded shot.
